Attorney Profile

ATTORNEY OF EMPLOYMENT LAW

Senior attorney, counselor, negotiator and veteran litigator offering 16 years experience focused largely within the employment law arena. Litigation and litigation avoidance strategies encompass the full spectrum of this field to include age, health, family medical, wage, worker's compensation, wrongful discharge, race, gender, religion, weight and disability cases.

Start-up and full P&L responsibility for a profitable high growth law practice. Comfortable operating in union and non-union environments spanning manufacturing, distribution and service industries. Proven consensus builder leading diverse legal, corporate or political factions to mutually agreed upon solutions.

Recognized for a career of successful, if not landmark cases representing individual plaintiffs, class action, government and corporate entities. Although I am a well known and respected litigator, I employ every conceivable approach to mediate out of court resolutions. I have mediated hundreds of cases to equitable settlement.

Selected Achievements

  • Litigation Avoidance. Originally a member of my city's Board of Ordinance Appeals, I was soon elected Chairman. Instituted policy for handling ordinance violations at the administrative level. Exceptionally well-received by the Local District Court, the court literally refused to litigate cases until this board reviewed and exhausted mediation efforts.
  • Innovative & Visionary Advancement of the Law. Cited in Michigan Trials publications on five occasions and TV/newspaper media over ten times regarding my cases. The first attorney in Michigan to apply the "Hostile Environment" theory to a national origin case, this suit was won on appeal, setting a precedent which stands to this day.
    • I have also been recognized as the author of a "Disparate Impact" theory, written up in Michigan Wrongful Discharge and Employment Law, and featured in law school textbooks for the past decade.
  • Forward Thinking Court Settlement Techniques. Innovative filing strategy prompted the move to settle out of court on a sensitive sexual harassment matter. A well structured litigation theory generated a six-figure settlement...well within the range set by my client as the cash goal.
  • High Visibility Public Relations. Co-hosted a radio talk show addressing the legal aspects of sensitive societal issues. Employing a teaming approach, I soon became the "Go To Guy" as ratings blew through the roof. Picked up by UPI, AP and written up nationally, I was honored by the request to contract for national syndication.
